Mark Stansberry
Owner / PT, DPT, FAAOMPT
Email MarkMark is originally from Mt. Pleasant and is a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Health Science from the University of Michigan-Flint and completed his Master's in Physical Therapy at U of M-Flint in 1992. He earned his doctorate in physical therapy from Rocky Mountain University in Provo, Utah. He is a graduate of the URSA Foundation under the direction of Dr. Loren Rex. He has extensive training in manual techniques and has completed numerous courses on Muscle Energy Techniques (MET) including coursework instructed by Dr. Fred Mitchell and Dr. Jay Sandweiss. Mark is certified in Intramuscular Manual Therapy through the Travell Series. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (Orthopedic and Private Practice Sections), and the Michigan Physical Therapy Association. In 2015, Mark obtained his Orthopedic Clinical Specialist certification. He received his fellowship training at the Institute of Therapeutic Science and is currently an adjunct faculty and lectures on a variety of topics including knee injuries and blood flow restriction. He serves on the admittance panel for Central Michigan University's Physical Therapy graduate program. Prior to opening his own business, he was the Director of Rehabilitation Services for Central Michigan Community Hospital.
Mark opened Mountain Town Rehab in 2001. He treats primarily orthopedic injuries, but enjoys treating an eclectic population with a variety of interventions. He is active in the community and enjoys the company of his family; wife, Sue, son and daughter-in-law, Alex and Theresa, and son Kyle. He is especially fond of spending time with his two grandsons, Tyson and Shane.
Mark's patient-centered approach to providing care has created a dedicated clientele and developed a strong referral base. In fact, Mountain Town Rehab has received referrals from over 1800 physicians throughout Michigan and from a variety of states. Mark has selected highly qualified individuals to form his Mountain Town Rehab team. He has treated athletes at the youth, high school, collegiate, professional and Olympic levels. Sue Stansberry
Owner / Office Manager
Email SueSue is originally from Mt. Pleasant and is a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy. She earned her BS degree in Math and Accounting from Central Michigan University. Sue and her husband Mark opened Mountain Town Rehab in 2001 and she is thankful for the opportunity to work alongside her husband while serving the community they both were raised in. As practice manager and billing specialist, Sue enjoys the Mountain Town Rehab Team and the patients they serve with the goal of making everyone feel like they are at home in the clinic.
Prior to opening Mountain Town Rehab, Sue enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom. Outside of work she enjoys the many events offered by Central Michigan University, reading, and spending time with her family. She is especially fond of the time spent with her grandchildren.
Kristi Pifer
MA, MSPT
Email KristiKristi is originally from Rosebush. She received her BS degree from Michigan State University and her MS in Physical Therapy as well as an MA degree in Exercise Physiology from Central Michigan University. Kristi has worked with Mark Stansberry since 1998 when they were employed by CMCH - Wellness Central. Kristi came to Mountain Town Rehab in 2003.
Kristi received her lymphedema certification (LLCC) in 2003. While she also specializes in pediatric physical therapy and aquatic therapy, she treats a variety of orthopedic and neurologic conditions. Outside of her professional life, Kristi has four boys, which keep her busy attending sporting events, camping, and travelling. She enjoys hiking, gardening, and challenging herself with fitness goals.
Alex Stansberry

Email AlexAlex is from Mt. Pleasant and graduated high school from Sacred Heart Academy in Mt. Pleasant. He earned his undergraduate degree, a B.S. in Health Fitness, from CMU in 2010. He continued his CMU education and graduated in May 2013 with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. He received his Orthopedic Clinical Specialist certification in 2016. Alex came to Mountain Town Rehab in May 2013.
Alex has clinical experience in outpatient settings with patients of various orthopedic and neurologic conditions, as well as experience in inpatient rehabilitation with patients of various neurologic conditions. Alex is interested in working with patients who have a broad range of orthopedic conditions, with more specific interests in working with individuals who have sports related injuries. He is certified in Intramuscular Manual Therapy (IMT) and Blood Flow Restriction Training (BFRT) and has extensive training in Graston technique.
In his personal time, Alex enjoys spending time with family and friends. He has two boys and participates in triathlons. He also enjoys biking, golfing, playing volleyball, reading, and camping.
Stephanie Pifer

Email StephanieStephanie is originally from Shepherd, MI. She earned her B.S. in Athletic Training from CMU in 2014 and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from CMU in 2017.
Stephanie has clinical experiences mostly in orthopedic settings. She worked for Covenant Healthcare in an orthopedic outpatient clinic for 6 years before joining the Mountain Town Rehab team in January 2023. She enjoys working with patients of all ages but specifically loves helping patients return to sport or their favorite activities. She has also advanced her skills in the use of Blood Flow Restriction Training and Dry Needling over the last few years and will be finishing up a Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist certification by Summer 2026.
Outside of work, Stephanie enjoys spending time with family including her husband, Keegan, and their two sons, Hayes and Heston, and together they like going to sporting events, traveling and finding the best local places to eat, and being outside when the weather is nice. Stephanie also is very passionate about exercising including strength and mobility focused workouts as well as running.
Lisa Smith
PTA
Email LisaLisa graduated from Mid Michigan Community College with an Associate of Applied Science - Physical Therapist Assistant in May 2015. She also attended Ferris State University for undergraduate studies. Lisa came to Mountain Town Rehab in June, 2015.
Prior to joining the Mountain Town Rehab team, Lisa worked at Hope Network for over 10 years. Her areas of interest include aquatic therapy as well as the neurological, orthopaedic, and pediatric populations. Lisa is an LSVT certified therapist and she also holds certification in Blood Flow Restriction Training (BFR).
Outside of work, Lisa likes to spend time with family and friends. Her hobbies include singing, volunteering with her children's school activities, hunting and watching her children's sporting events and 4-H projects.
Mary Lee Humphreys

Email Mary LeeMary Lee joined the Mountain Town Rehab team in 2001 as a home office transcriptionist. In early 2009, Mary Lee joined the in-office team. She is responsible for various office duties, website content, activities for staff and patients, information systems, and increasing awareness of community programs and events.
Mary Lee grew up in Farwell and graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Parks and Recreation Resources. After college, she lived in New Jersey, Virginia, and Illinois while working in the long-term care industry. She became a licensed nursing home administrator in Illinois and always enjoyed working with a geriatric population.
Mary Lee and her husband Kevin settled in Michigan in 2000 following the birth of their son. They now have three children, Devin, Madelon, and Ainslee. She enjoys scrapbooking, working in the yard, and family adventures.
Liz Vasold

Email LizLiz Vasold grew up in Mt. Pleasant. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and then attended Finlandia University in Hancock, Michigan where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design. Liz played basketball and softball in high school and college. After college, Liz lived and worked in Gaylord for a few years. She was then able to transfer with her company and return to Mt. Pleasant, where she continued to manage a local restaurant.
Liz joined the Mountain Town Rehab team in April 2017. She handles billing, maintains medical records, schedules patients and participates in all front office operations. Liz enjoys the family atmosphere at Mountain Town Rehab.
Outside of work, Liz enjoys adventures with her husband, RJ, son, Andrew, and daughter, Addison attending CMU events, traveling, and crafting.
